About Spark
-
Spark is a professional development company specializing in behavioral management and leadership training for staff who work with challenging behaviors. We design and deliver interactive, customized training that equips staff with foundational learning concepts and practical behavioral management strategies they can apply immediately.
-
If you work with people, you work with behavior. Spark began by training staff who work with children, and has since grown into a resource for leadership development, team building, and proactive strategies across many settings. We’ve partnered with schools, camps, preschools, parent groups, bus drivers, public and private schools, parks and recreation programs, municipalities, and more. If you want practical tools to reduce conflict, manage power struggles, and build strategies that keep people engaged and supported, Spark training is for you.
-
We tailor every training to your exact needs. You choose content from our library of modules, and we adapt it to fit your staff and setting. Sessions are interactive and hands-on, with role play, problem-solving, and real-world scenarios—not just talk. In three easy steps, you pick modules, request a date, and receive a customized proposal. We work within your budget, bring training to you when possible, and ensure it’s engaging, relevant, accessible, and affordable.
-
Spark’s philosophy is that behavior always tells a story. By helping staff recognize the needs behind actions—emotional or tangible—we create space for consistent, reliable, and respectful responses that strengthen teams, reduce conflict, and encourage individuals to become active agents of their own growth and success.
-
No, Spark is not a clinical provider. Our focus is on behavioral management training—equipping staff with practical strategies to respond to challenging and disruptive behaviors. If the people you serve have a mental health diagnosis, Spark can be a valuable complement to clinical care, because from our perspective the goal remains the same: giving staff tools to manage behaviors effectively, consistently, and compassionately.
-
No. Spark never asks for personal or confidential client information. During the proposal process, we focus only on your staff—their strengths, challenges, and training goals—as well as the environment they work in, including barriers to success, supervision needs, and available resources. We may also ask general questions about the types of behaviors staff encounter and whether they ever escalate to unsafe situations. Our trainers are careful to reference behaviors only, never individual clients, so we can design training that is relevant, practical, and strategy-focused.
-
Not at all. Spark values your time and privacy. We don’t share your information, and we limit emails to meaningful updates, exciting news, or opportunities that truly support your work. You may also occasionally hear from our leadership team with a personal check-in to make sure previous trainings are continuing to meet your needs.
Training Content & Approach
-
Absolutely. We design each training around your specific challenges and goals, ensuring strategies are relevant and practical for your team.
-
Choose any three modules from our library to create a two-hour training tailored to your team. You can mix topics for cohesion, foundational learning, or behavior strategies, and we’ll follow up with a quick Zoom to make sure your plan is cohesive, practical, and ready to deliver.
-
Yes, we use role play—but only if you want it included in your training. Role play is discussed during the proposal build, so you’ll never be surprised by it. And if you do include it, we promise not to throw anyone in front of a group without a script. Our trainers lead by example, set a playful tone, and keep things safe and supportive so the focus stays on learning, not stage fright. Still worried your staff might stage a mutiny over role play? Our testimonial page will put both you and your team at ease—it’s proof that Spark trainings are engaging, fun, accessible, and relevant for everyone.
-
Staff leave with practical, easy-to-use strategies that improve consistency, reduce challenging behaviors, and strengthen teams. We also teach the ABCs of why behaviors occur, because understanding the “why” is key to creating effective strategies. Ultimately, Spark training equips people with the tools to manage challenges and empowers individuals and teams to drive positive change together.
-
We break down strategies into clear, simple steps and use hands-on practice to help new staff feel confident quickly. Most organizations we work with have a mix of new and returning staff, and Spark specializes in bridging that gap—making sure new staff are supported while seasoned staff stay challenged and engaged.
-
Spark trainings honor the skills and knowledge seasoned staff bring while keeping the content fresh and engaging. We use real-world scenarios, role play, and collaborative problem-solving to challenge experienced staff with new perspectives and deeper strategies.
-
Spark offers leadership-focused modules that strengthen the connection between leaders and their teams. We help leadership ensure staff share a common language and consistent approaches to behavioral management, reducing the confusion that happens when individuals “go rogue” with their own methods.
-
Yes! Spark trainings provide tools to maintain energy, avoid common behavioral traps, and build a culture of teamwork and consistency. We also uncover motivational myths, helping staff and leaders understand that motivation is not one-size-fits-all—everyone is driven by unique intrinsic factors.
-
At the end of every training, staff complete an anonymous survey that rates both the trainer and the content. We compile all feedback and deliver it to the hiring organization, including any additional comments staff choose to share. Surveys also give staff the chance to identify skills or areas they’d like to strengthen, which provides leadership with a clearer understanding of how to best support their teams.
-
Because staff learn best by doing. Our trainings emphasize role play, collaboration, and reflection, ensuring strategies stick long after the session ends.
-
It’s about setting boundaries in ways that keep kids engaged and respected—redirecting behavior without shutting them down.
-
We help staff identify their personal triggers and learn strategies to respond calmly and professionally, rather than react emotionally.
-
It reflects our mission to empower staff with the tools, confidence, and teamwork needed to spark positive change in the lives of kids and the organizations that support them.

Spark trainings are built for flexibility. Our tiered packages include:
- Up to 12 participants
- 13–25 participants
- 26–40 participants
- 41–60 participants
- 61–80 participants
The tiers are designed so you don’t have to sweat exact headcounts—if you have 20 staff, you’re covered for up to 25 seats, leaving room for administrators or guests. For groups larger than 80, we’re happy to explore options. Our goal is to say yes whenever possible and make training meaningful for every team. -
Our aim is to keep trainings simple and stress-free for you! All you need is a space large enough to hold the group you’d like trained (often your typical team meeting space is perfect). We supply all other materials and keep trainings low-tech so we can focus on personalizing the experience for you and your staff.
